Expanding CalAmp’s Dynamic LMU-3640 for Global Markets

The 3640 telematics gateway series, one of CalAmp’s highly successful product line, is now available for international markets. New to the product line is the HSPA version which offers Penta-Band HSPA connectivity and Quad-Band 2G fallback, making it a reliable device for companies seeking to deploy telematics capabilities for global operations spanning across multiple continents.

Built for Worldwide Enablement

The new LMU-3640™ HSPA is a dynamic telematics gateway that comes with a dual vehicle bus interface which is applicable across light & heavy-duty vehicles allowing fleet companies to successfully manage their assets using only one device type with minimal variances and flexibility to help improve operations. LMU-3640 HSPA comes standard with internal antennas making the device fast and easy to install. Some additional features include a dual mode Bluetooth for connecting to a broad array of Bluetooth connected peripherals to establish a connectivity hub and an integrated buzzer for enabling numerous applications with audible alert including driver safety. With an ultra-low current consumption (<500uA), the LMU-3640 HSPA is able to maximize battery life during inactive conditions.

Additional Features with Full Flexibility

Customers of the LMU-3640 HSPA will not only be able to extract more insights from a broad array of vehicle interfaces and protocols the product supports, but also be able to expand or customize device capabilities with hosted application features and automatic over-the-air firmware updates via PULS™. This industry-leading technology comes with impact detection and driver behavior, in-vehicle applications, with the triple-axis accelerometer that measures motion, aggressive acceleration, hard braking and more. PULS™ also delivers flexibility of maintenance and management of device/configurations post-installation and increases efficiencies across the entire operation.

The LMU-3640 HSPA comes equipped with the ability to support a comprehensive set of inputs/outputs (I/O) for capturing or relaying data generated by peripheral devices for certain use cases. Additionally, it is enabled with CalAmp’s proprietary on-board alert engine, PEG™ (Programmable Event Generator) which can be installed before shipment at a customer’s facility or over-the-air once the device is active in the field. This advanced engine program monitors external conditions and supports customer-defined exception-based rules and continuously monitors the environment and responds instantaneously to pre-defined threshold conditions related to time, date, motion, location, geo-zone, input and other event combinations.
